The surface is laminated with fibreglass made of silica sand. Since Balsa wood is hard, only small quantities of fibreglass are required.

Unfortunately, the production of fibreglass still requires fossil energy, but Kun_tiqi is striving to improve this process and its alternatives in order to reduce any negative effect on the environment.
